Commodore VIC 20

Manufacturer Commmodore Business Machines Older VIC20 Newer VIC20
The VIC 20 was introduced in 1981 as the successor to the PET. Designed by Bob Yannes who later designed the C64s SID chip. Although initially extremely popular, helped by the likes of Jeff Minter, it was soon outclassed by it's contemporaries. CBM attempted to replace it with the doomed C16 until the all-conquering C64 was released. The name VIC comes from the video chip 'Video Interface Controller' but was sold as the VC-20 in Germany because VIC is a swearword(!) The identical serial interface means many peripherals are interchangeable with the 64.
I have two machines in the collection. One is an early model I assume as it has a PET-like keyboard and quite a low serial number. The other is in very good condition and has a keyboard akin to an early C64.
