Sinclair Spectrum 48k |
Last update: |
Manufacturer | Sinclair Research Limited |
The Sinclair Spectrum was the legendary computer of the 1980s. Borne from the legacy of the ZX80 and ZX81, the Spectrum enjoyed enormous success and launched it's creator, Sir Clive Sinclair, into stardom. An odd quirk is the fact that to type programs you have to use the correct key combination for each keyword which was a sort of shorthand. Lacking joystick ports as standard many games were played using keys but an optional interface could be plugged in the back. It's main rival was the Commodore 64 but both the hardware and software were cheaper which helped its continued popularity. The Spectrum + was released in 1984 which was followed by the Spectrum 128, 128+2 and 128+3.
